Hello and welcome, Shay to Firemind! For our viewers, could you share a bit about yourself and your professional journey?
Hey! I’m a former co-founder of a venture-backed startup; I successfully bootstrapped then raised over £2M. I thrived in the dynamic challenges of the scaleup environment, building strategic relationships with industry leaders and driving sustainable growth.
Prior to this, I held a pivotal role in enterprise sales, gaining extensive experience in scaling sales operations, including the expansion of a national tech division for a well-established organisation in the UK.
How did you hear about Firemind, and what made you apply?
I’ve been working with AWS cloud for over 7 years and Firemind are generally considered the leading GenAI partner. They were recommended to me by people within AWS.
What’s your new role at Firemind?
I’m a Business Development Executive.
Which areas of our business excite you the most?
I’m excited that Firemind has successfully guided so many businesses through various POC stages and is now supporting production GenAI deployments – that’s where the real benefits lie.
What are your main objectives at Firemind?
Enabling enterprise clients, to encompass data sources across the entire business, reflecting the growing recognition of data’s power in enhancing operational efficiency, customer experience, and financial performance.
Which part of your role are you most excited about?
I’m most excited about working with the incredible team here to enable meaningful change for our clients. I’ve always enjoyed working with customers and building long-standing professional relationships.
What do you hope to achieve in your first year?
Maintaining and growing the client base whilst enjoying working with new people and projects.
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I enjoy spending time with my wife and son – especially travelling. I’m also often hiking in the lake district, cooking up a feast (preferably on a BBQ) and have collected vinyl for years as I love my music!
What’s your favourite song right now?
I’ve got eclectic taste in music, but according to Spotify it’s Famax by Raffa Guido.
If you could only eat one dish for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Cowboy ribeye on the bone, slow-smoked with a reverse sear finish, cooked medium, and seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic – served with roast vegetables, spuds, and a side of ribs.
What’s at the top of your bucket list?
I’d like to explore South America one day – so many incredible experiences there.
What’s one skill you’d love to learn?
I’ve always wished I could “slap a bass guitar”.
How do you wind down after work?
Mostly chilling with my son Cillian, I also enjoy a decent pint of Guinness.
