With Phodi joining us last week, becoming our Talent Acquisition Partner, he’s wasted no time hiring the first of many new members to the team. This week we’ve been joined by our +1, Grazell! 🎉

Hello and welcome Grazell to the Firemind team! It’s great to have you with us. To our viewers, could you please tell us a little about yourself and your professional background?

I was initially from an aviation management background then took a career-break for the past 3 years to teach English in Hong Kong. While there, I started teaching myself basic JavaScript to build projects on my free time. It was so much fun and interesting that I decided to enrol and dedicate 8 months to a Full-Stack Web Development course so I can start my career as a Developer.

How did you find out about us and what made you decide to apply for a role with Firemind?

As a Junior developer, I was looking for a workplace where I can continue growing professionally. Knowing how Firemind encourages their employees to continue learning and expanding their skills by providing such a supportive working environment, it wasn’t a difficult decision to come and join!

Which role have you taken at Firemind?

I am your new Junior Full Stack Engineer.

What will be your main goals/objectives whilst working at Firemind?

My goal is to learn as much as I can from Firemind’s amazing development team, while also delivering efficient code to a high standard.

What are some highlights of the job so far?

Everyone’s been so welcoming and helpful.

Which aspects of the job are you most excited about?

I am very excited to be challenged by all kinds of projects, big or small. I think it will be a great learning curve and would also allow me to showcase my tech skills. Socialising and getting to know my co-workers is also a great plus!

What do you hope to achieve within your first 12 months here?

Within my first 12 months here, I hope to become an even more confident developer with stronger problem solving capabilities. I also hope to have a deeper knowledge not only with my own role, but all the other roles within the web development project cycle.

Outside of work, what do you get up to? Tell us about yourself.

I do love travelling and discovering interesting local spots. If I’m not getting lost in another country, I’m probably hiking a random hill somewhere or finding a cool pub for drinks. On lazy days, I’m currently marathoning some terrible (so bad they’re good) horror films or reading books.
