This week we’re joined by Sarah, Firemind’s newest team member.

Hey Sarah. We’re excited to have you join us as our new Financial Controller. Sarah will be helping with Firemind’s continued expansion, as well as future budgeting and forecasting needs. Her expertise is going to be a valuable addition to Firemind, as we continue to scale and welcome new talent and customers.

Hello Sarah. Welcome to Firemind! It’s lovely to have you with us. For our viewers, could you please tell us a little about yourself and your professional background?

Hey, it’s lovely to be here! I’m Sarah, a mum of 4 (3 girls and a boy), and I have a strong background in the financial management of SME organisations, with a focus on budgeting and forecasting. Generally, I tend to live with my nose in a spreadsheet.

How did you find out about us and what made you decide to apply for a role with Firemind?

I worked with one of the Managing Directors a few years ago, and after speaking recently on LinkedIn, and following a contract finishing at my previous employer, I was offered the role with Firemind.

What is your role at Firemind?

I’m the Financial Controller.

Which aspects of your role are you most excited about?

Accounts can be hard to get excited about for some people, but for me, it’s about helping the team and making the accounting process a streamlined experience for all.

Outside of work, what do you get up to? Tell us about your hobbies.

I love to cook. Favourite things for me to cook would be baking cakes for the kids, as well as serving up Pad thai dishes. I’m also quite into my tattoos. Getting tattooed is classed as a hobby, right?

What’s your favourite song on your playlist right now?

My playlist is very varied! From Stevie Nicks to heavy metal. I tend to stick it on shuffle and off I go!

Any fun nicknames we should know about?

Nope, very dull I’m afraid.

If you could only choose one dish to eat every meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Spicy ramen. All day, every day!

What is at the top of your bucket list?

Doing a bungie jump is next on the list.

What is one skill you would really love to learn?

I would love to learn another language, most likely Japanese.

And finally, how do you wind down after work?

I’m constantly cooking, reading as well as walking my labradoodle, Pat the dog. Yes, his name is Pat. 😀
