Simon Williams
"We had the credibility and the assurance of AWS. We had the imagination of the data scientists from Firemind. That was a fantastic combination of talent and skills."

Adam Smith
"We did a small proof of concept with five or six colleagues in the legal function, and everyone who used it said it was incredible. It made their life easier. I think in five years time, every lawyer will be using some form of AI assistant. It’s going to transform the way we practice and operate as lawyers."

Solution
Scalable, secure and serverless
Firemind Group built a custom tool on its Pulse platform, which enables generative AI projects to integrate quickly with Amazon Bedrock and leverage the data security and privacy controls built into AWS.
Key Services
Amazon Bedrock
Amazon Bedrock served as “the beating heart” of Firemind’s Pulse tooling. The team relied primarily on Anthropic’s Claude models, 3.5 and Haiku, as foundation models.
Amazon SageMaker
Firemind Group used an Amazon SageMaker notebook to explore agentic models for the specialist counsel use case, including how to apply more intelligence through agents. Simon Williams Practice Head, UK Strategic Delivery
Using the new AI tool, Bank of Ireland’s legal team could work faster and better, with a time savings of 20% on routine tasks — equal to one day per week for each lawyer to do more strategic and more important work. In addition, the team highly valued the specialist counsel tool’s output on specific areas of law.
Building on the project’s success, the Bank of Ireland legal team is collaborating with Firemind Group and AWS to envision and develop a comprehensive production roadmap that will advance the generative AI tools, refining their capabilities to drive innovation, efficiency, and transformative impact.
